EDF Starts ‘Get AI Ready Train-the-Trainer’ Programme

The European Disability Forum (EDF) has welcomed EDF’s recent initiative in launching the ‘Get AI Ready Train-the-Trainer’ programme, aimed at equipping trainers and educators with the skills needed to understand and implement artificial intelligence (AI) technologies in ways that support the rights and inclusion of persons with disabilities.

A Strategic Step Towards Inclusion

This innovative programme forms part of EDF’s broader commitment to ensuring that emerging technologies, particularly AI, are accessible and empower people with disabilities across Europe. As AI rapidly influences many aspects of daily life and work, the need to create inclusive digital environments has become increasingly urgent.

EDF’s strategic frameworks for 2025-2030 highlight the importance of harnessing new technologies to break down barriers while safeguarding human rights, particularly for disabled individuals. With projects centred on policy development, standards, and rights-based campaigns, EDF positions itself as a key advocate for disability-inclusive digital transformation in the European Union.

About the Train-the-Trainer Programme

The ‘Get AI Ready Train-the-Trainer’ programme is designed to develop expertise among educators and trainers who then pass on knowledge on AI’s potential and challenges relating to disabilities. By doing so, EDF aims to foster a knowledgeable community capable of supporting the implementation of AI in a way that promotes personal choice, autonomy, and accessibility for disabled people.

The programme also aligns with EDF’s calls to ensure that the next EU budget reflects and supports the rights of persons with disabilities, especially in the context of increasing reliance on digital solutions and artificial intelligence.

Commitment to Rights and Accessibility

EDF’s continued work on policy, representation, and standardisation, including campaigns such as Stop coercion in mental health! and its active involvement with the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD), demonstrates EDF’s commitment to developing inclusive approaches.

Through initiatives like the ‘Get AI Ready Train-the-Trainer’ programme, EDF also supports the implementation and promotion of the EU Disability Card and EU Parking Card, which facilitate accessibility and rights enforcement across the Union.
